Homicide – Arrest: C18-111450

The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit has made an arrest in the city's 7th homicide.

Hailey Summer BARKER, 18, was arrested on June 4, 2018, and charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of Christine Lynnette Barker. The accused was detained in custody.

As previously reported:

On May 28, 2018, at approximately 12:10 p.m., emergency services responded to the report of an injured female at a residence in the first 100 block of Beaumont Bay.

Upon arrival, General Patrol members located an adult female that had been stabbed. She was transported to hospital in critical condition where she succumbed to her injuries.

The deceased has since been identified as Christine Lynnette Barker, a 36-year-old female of Winnipeg.

Homicide Unit investigators have obtained a Canada-wide warrant for the arrest of Hailey Barker, an 18-year-old female of Winnipeg, for Second Degree Murder.

Public Assistance Requested

The investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on June 2, 2018 at Portage Ave. and Home St. is still ongoing.

Investigators from the Winnipeg Police Traffic Division continue to request the public's assistance and ask anyone who may have witnessed this collision or events immediately following to contact the Traffic Division at 204-986-7085. As well, anyone that may have images or video of the incident is asked to send files wps-pio@winnipeg.ca.
