Thursday, June 28, 2018 Commercial Robbery – Arrest: C18-137581 On June 27, 2018, at approximately 2:30 a.m., General Patrol members responded to a convenience store in the 500 block of William Avenue for a report of a male attempting to assault a store clerk while armed with a knife. As police arrived, the male fled and was placed under arrest in the 700 block of William Avenue. He was transported to hospital in stable condition for minor injuries he claimed he had sustained during a stabbing. Officers determined that a male had entered the convenience store with his face concealed and brandishing a homemade-style knife towards employees. He then attempted to steal undisclosed merchandise but was stopped by several employees and customers that had been in the store. A melee ensued and the male attempted to flee but was locked inside the store, at which time he began to kick at a cracked window causing a small hole. The male climbed through the broken window which caused numerous lacerations and fled. He was later treated and released from hospital. Craig Armand Norman Ducharme, a 31-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with: - Robbery - Mischief under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment - Possession of a Weapon - Disguise with Intent He was detained in custody. Drug Offence – Arrest: C18-138504 On June 28, 2018, at approximately 1:45 a.m., District 3 Community Support Unit members observed a male holding a can of liquor exit a taxi cab at the intersection of Main Street and Bannerman Avenue. Upon seeing police, the male immediately re-entered the taxi. Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the male was in violation of his parole conditions. He was placed under arrest and a search of him resulted in the seizure of: - 11 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $1,100) - $90 in Canadian currency A duffle bag that had been with the male was found to contain: - 87 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $8,700) Matthew Frederick Sheppard, a 32-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with: - Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine - Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 - Consume or Possess Open Liquor in a Public Place (Liquor and Gaming Control Act) He was also processed on a Canada-wide parole revocation warrant.
