Homicide – Investigation: C18-148805
On July 11, 2018, at approximately 1:40 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Flora Avenue and McKenzie Street in response to a report of a male shot.
   
Upon arrival, officers located an injured adult male. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
   
The victim has been identified as Kenneth WOOD, a 35-year-old male of Winnipeg.
   
The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit is seeking assistance from anyone who had contact with the victim or can provide information on his whereabouts prior to his death.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Stabbing - Arrest: C18-149233
On July 11, 2018, at approximately 3:20 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a female stabbed in the area of Edmonton Street and Quappelle Avenue. Upon arrival, a 19-year-old female was located with several stab wounds to the upper body. She was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable where she remains at this time.
   
General Patrol officers searched the area, located an adult male suspect and after a short foot pursuit took the male into custody.
   
Officers learned that the victim was sitting outside in the 400 block of Edmonton Street when a male approached her and began to argue. The male produced a knife from his waistband and stabbed the victim several times. After the attack, the suspect grabbed a backpack from a 39-year-old male who was also sitting in the area, threatened him and fled.
   
Miguel Gerald THOMAS, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with Robbery, Possess Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon, and Utter Threats. He has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
