Homicide Investigation – Public Assistance Requested: C17-172834
   
The Winnipeg Police Service had previously released information on the August 4, 2017, murder of Dean Wade YURKIW, 50. Dean had been stabbed in the 300 block of Redwood Ave. An image of Dean Yurkiw is provided below:

 

      
   
Investigators from the Homicide Unit are now able to provide the following suspect description and are requesting the public's assistance in identifying the individual.
   
 - Indigenous male in his early 20's
 - Approximately 5'7" in height
 - Thin build
 - Short brown hair, possibly with a buzz-cut
 - Wearing a long-sleeved plaid shirt, grey in colour, and aqua green coloured shirt under the plaid shirt and longer dark blue shorts.
   
Additionally, a male DNA profile has been recovered from the crime scene. Investigators believe the suspect lives or lived in the area at the time of the murder close to where Dean was discovered and that people in the community would have seen the suspect in the area.
   
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in identifying and locating this suspect.  Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
