Motor Vehicle Collision – Public Assistance Requested: C18-167617
 
On August 3, 2018, at approximately 1 p.m., emergency services responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Dakota Street and Bishop Grandin Boulevard.
 
Investigators believe 3 vehicles were involved in the collision. A total of 6 individuals were transported to hospital, including 1 person in unstable condition. 
 
The Winnipeg Police Service's Traffic Division is seeking assistance from the public in identifying the following vehicle and occupants who may have witnessed the collision:
 
 
It is believed that the vehicle is a white 2014-2015 Chevrolet Silverado and the occupants will have information that can assist investigators.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Traffic Division. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
Attempt Murder – Arrest: C18-168189
 
On August 4, 2018, at approximately 2:05 a.m., a North District General Patrol unit was patrolling in the area of Andrews Street and Aberdeen Avenue when they came upon a truck containing an injured female that had been shot in the upper body.
 
As additional units began to arrive at the scene, a male suspect approached officers and threw an item between two parked vehicles. He then placed his arms in the air and was taken into custody. A firearm was later discovered near the vehicles.
 
The female victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation and believe that the suspect male, who is the owner of the truck, was involved in a dispute with the victim and an acquaintance immediately prior to the shooting. 
 
Donald Michael Kargus, a 40-year-old male of Lockport, Manitoba, has been charged with:
 
- Attempt to Commit Murder
- Discharge a Restricted Firearm or a Prohibited Firearm with Intent
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Pointing a Firearm (x2)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
 
He was detained in custody.
