Thursday, January 15, 2015 Theft Arrests C15-9381 On January 14, 2015 shortly before 2:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 200 block of Kirkbridge Drive. Information provided was that a male had been apprehended after being seen attempting to break into a vehicle. Two other suspects were seen to be in the area. Several units attended and the male being held was taken into police custody. The two other suspects were located and arrested nearby without incident. Members of the West District Crime Unit continued with the investigation. For his alleged involvement Nathan Ezra MOWCHUN, 21 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Theft Under $5000 x 4, Fraud Under $5000 x 7, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 x 2, Possession of an Identity Document x 2, Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 4. For his alleged involvement Austin Christopher River SAUNDERS, 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Theft Under $5000 x 3, Fraud Under $5000 x 7, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Possession of an Identity Document x 2 and Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance. Both were detained in custody. A 21-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of Theft Under $5000 x 2, Fraud Under $5000 x 5 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 for her alleged involvement. She was released via a Promise to Appear. Investigation revealed that on the evening of January 13th, MOWCHUN had entered a vehicle in the 800 block of Borebank Street and stole a wallet containing cash and a credit card. Later that night MOWCHUN met up with SAUNDERS and the unnamed female in the area of Portage Avenue and Goulding Street. The three accused used the stolen credit card to purchase merchandise and prepaid Visa cards from area businesses. They then made their way to the area of Killarney Avenue and Pembina Highway where they made several attempts to break into vehicles. They were successful in three of their attempts, resulting in items being stolen from those vehicles.
