Update - Assault – C15-10941
As previously released - On January 16, 2015, shortly after 9:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the area of Lincoln Avenue and Worth Street for the report of an assault that had just occurred.
Several units flooded the area however the suspect was not located.

Officers met with the 12-year-old victim who related that at approximately 9:30 a.m. she was on her way to school, walking north on Worth Street.  As she passed the back lane of Lincoln Avenue, an unknown male called out to her.  Feeling uneasy, she continued on but was grabbed from behind and pulled into the lane where the suspect proceeded to physically assault her.  The victim was able to scream for help at which point the suspect was scared off and ran eastbound down the lane.  It should be noted that during the assault the victim noted that the suspect was armed with a weapon.

It was reported that she sustained minor injuries as a result of the assault. A suspect description was also made public at that time.

The investigation was followed-up by members of the Child Abuse Unit.

Please note that it has been determined that this incident was fabricated by the female involved. She is not facing any charges however the required supports have been put in place.
