Women's World Cup Tournament
Between Monday, June 8th and Tuesday, June 16th, Winnipeg hosted 7 matches of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup with well over 85,000 fans from around the world turning out to support their favourite teams.
During the event, members of the Winnipeg Police Service, along with other security personnel, were on hand to ensure that those in attendance had a safe and enjoyable experience.
Only one incident of note occurred, with a 15-year-old male of Dufresne, Manitoba running out onto the field during the Tuesday, June 15th match between Germany and Thailand. He is facing a charge of Mischief and was released via an Appearance Notice.
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to acknowledge and thank players, fans, volunteers and social events partners alike that made this event the success that it was.
