Homicide Investigation Update - C15-151436
As previously released, on July 20, 2015 at approximately 7:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a residence located in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue regarding a fire.
 
Once the fire was extinguished, further examination revealed a deceased male within the home.  He has been identified as Justin Harvey CHEZICK, 42 years of Winnipeg.
 
Members of the Homicide Unit continue to investigate. Anyone with further information regarding this on-going investigation is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Theft Arrest – C15-152071
Since early March of 2015, members of the Division 11 Crime Unit have been involved in the investigation of several thefts.  They include:
 
March 3 – 500 block of Portage Avenue – computer equipment
May 19 – 500 block of Portage Avenue – computer equipment
May 23 – 500 block of Portage Avenue – computer equipment
May 25 – 500 block of Portage Avenue – computer equipment
June 1 – 1st 100 block of Lombard Place – bicycle
 
Total value of items stolen estimated to be in excess of $5000.00.
 
On July 21st shortly after 1:30 a.m. uniform members observed a male attempting to steal a bicycle in the area of Smith Street and Notre Dame Avenue.  He was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of break-in tools, drugs and identification belonging to others.  He was later turned over to members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
 
Gilles Louis NAULT, 54 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:

  • Theft Under $5000 x 6
  • Possession of Break In Instruments
  • Possession of Schedule Substance – METHAMPHETAMINE
  • Possession of Identity Document x 4
  • Possession of Credit Card x 2
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

He was detained in custody.
