Friday, August 28, 2015 Fraud Arrests – C15-178894 Recently, a group of suspects travelled to Winnipeg, Manitoba from the Montreal, Quebec area for the purpose of committing credit card fraud. Between August 25th and 26th, 2015, the group attended to three department stores in the Winnipeg area, making purchases of electronics and gift cards, using forged credit cards. These transactions included the purchase of numerous Ipads, Ipods, pre-paid credit cards and assorted gift cards. The total estimated value of the goods and electronics purchased is $29,000.00. The business involved observed the numerous suspicious purchases and contacted police. Members of the Commercial Crime Unit were notified and entered into an investigation. On August 26, 2015 at approximately 6:00 p.m., two suspects were located and arrested in the area of the 2000 block of Wellington Avenue.
