Update - Homicide Investigation – Arrests -

As previously released -On February 6, 2016 at approximately 5:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to an assault in progress at a residence located in the 500 block of Stella Avenue.

Attending members located a 39-year-old female nearby identified as,Mavis DUCHARME having sustainedserious injuries. She was transported to hospital in critical condition and later pronounced deceased.

Members of the Homicide Unit continued with the investigation and were able to identify two suspects.

Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on February 6th both suspects were located and arrested without incident.

Investigation has revealed that two accused had attended to the victims' residence and forced their way in.  As a result, DUCHARME, along with an adult male, was assaulted.  DUCHARME was able to make her way to a nearby residence, pursued by the two accused, where she was assaulted once again.

Kashtin FLETT, 23 years of Winnipeg has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and Break, Enter, and Commit Assault for his alleged involvement.

Nikina HOULE, 23 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Manslaughter and Break, Enter, and Commit Assault for her alleged involvement.

Both have been detained in custody.
