Suspicious Person – C16-72350
On April 12, 2016 at approximately 7:30 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of a suspicious male seen in the area of Highfield Street and Pinedale Avenue shortly before 6:00 p.m. that evening.
 
A 13-year-old female related that she had been walking in the area when a lone male, operating a motorcycle, stopped next to her motioning for her to get on the back of the motorcycle. The young girl was shaken by the encounter and fled the area, returning home. 
 
The male suspect was described as: Caucasian, approximately 30-years of age with dark stubble on his face and red sunken eyes, wearing a black coloured jacket and a black coloured helmet.
 
The motorcycle was described as an older, cruiser-style motorcycle, black in colour with heavily chromed sides.  The motorcycle was also described as having a very loud exhaust.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the East District Crime Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2857 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Theft Under – From Motor Vehicle – Arrest C16-73358
In the early morning hours of April 14, 2016 Winnipeg Police District 2 Units were conducting increased patrols regarding property crimes in the area.  At approximately 2:30 a.m. officers were dispatched to the area of Stafford Street and Jackson Avenue for a report of a male rummaging through vehicles.
 
Upon arrival, officers arrested an 18-year-old male. He will be charged with Theft Under $5000.  The suspect was released on an Appearance Notice.  
 
 
Sexual Assault – Arrest C16-71905
The Winnipeg Police Service was actively looking for a known male suspect wanted in relation to a serious sexual assault investigation.
 
On Tuesday, April 13, 2016 at approximately 7:30 p.m. two off-duty officers were in the downtown area when they observed the suspect male. They identified themselves as police officers and were able to arrest the suspect without incident.
 
John Abraham CHOKEN, 38-years old, of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:
 
-       Sexual Assault x 2
-       Sexual Assault with a Weapon
-       Choke to Overcome
-       Forcible Confinement
-       Breach of Probation
 
Choken was detained in custody
 
 
Indecent Act – C16-73691
On April 14, 2016, shortly before 3:30 p.m. the Winnipeg Police Service received a report of an indecent act that occurred in the area of Grosvenor Avenue and Oak Street.

At approximately 3:10 p.m. a 12-year-old female victim was standing at a bus stop in the area.  The female victim observed a male standing across the street.  The male then pulled down his pants exposing himself.  The suspect male departed in a northerly direction in a back lane and was observed to get into a white van and continue north.

The suspect is described as: Caucasian male, approximately 30 years of age, 5 feet 9 inches tall with a stocky build.  The male is also described as: bald / shaved head with a moustache and stubble on his face.  He was wearing a white or greyish long sleeved collar shirt, light blue jeans and brown shoes.

The suspect vehicle is described as: older white van, similar to a Nissan Quest.

The investigation is continuing by the West District Crime Unit.  Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
