Sunday, July 10, 2016 Homicide Investigation: UPDATE – C16-140291 As previously released, on July 7, 2016, at approximately 1:40 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of Austin Street North for a working fire in a multi-family residence.     Several people were transported to hospital as a result of the fire. Two of the victims were pronounced deceased.     The victims have been identified as:   - Brenda CAMPBELL, 51-years     - John McKinnon BENDON, 61-years     The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).         Weapons Arrest – R16-51206 On July 8, 2016, at approximately 10:30 p.m., general patrol officers performed a traffic stop on a taxi cab in area of McGregor Street and Pritchard Avenue as a result of a Highway Traffic Act infraction. When the cab stopped the front passenger fled from the vehicle.     This male was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. The rear passenger was also detained.
