Homicide – Arrests: C16-140291
Winnipeg Police homicide investigators have arrested two suspects in relation to a fatal rooming house fire in the 100 block of Austin Street North that occurred on July 7, 2016.
   
 - Jonathon Graham BARSTAD, 34, of Winnipeg
   
 - Edward Wade BEARDY, 35, of Winnipeg
   
Have both been charged with:
   
 - Second Degree Murder x 2
 - Arson – Disregard for Life x 2
   
Both accused have been detained in custody.
   
Brenda Campbell, 51, and John McKinnon Bendon, 61, were both killed in a fire set at the residence.
   

Stabbing – Arrest: C17-139065
As previously released:
On June 25, 2017, at approximately 3:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a large fight in front of a nightclub in the 200 block of Bannatyne Avenue.
   
Upon arrival, an adult male was located suffering from stab wounds to his upper body. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition where he remains.
   
The victim was identified as a 30-year-old male. He was treated for serious upper body injuries and has since been upgraded to stable condition.
   
On July 6, 2017 members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crime Unit arrested the following person:
   
Elvedin KOVACEVIC, 25-years-old, of Winnipeg.
   
He has been charged with Aggravated Assault.
   
   
Strong-arm Robbery – Arrest: C17-148312
On July 6, 2017 at approximately 7:45 a.m. a 45-year-old female was waiting for a bus in the area of Selkirk Avenue and Salter Street when an unknown male grabbed her purse from her shoulder and ran off.

Winnipeg Police were notified by a witness and immediately attended to the area where they located the suspect.

Baptiste Wayne NABESS, 29-years-old, of Winnipeg was arrested and has been charged with Robbery
