Homicide – Arrest: C17-26739   
A 17-year-old male youth was arrested on July 7, 2017, by members of the Homicide Unit.
   
He has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance in this matter.
   
Note legal restrictions regarding youth
   
Canon Franklin BEARDY was murdered on February 6, 2017.
   
The Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit has obtained a court order authorizing the publication of the identity of a youth wanted in connection with this homicide.
   
A charge of Second Degree Murder has been authorized and a warrant issued for the arrest of for this suspect.
   
NOTE:  This court order ceases to have effect on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:59 p.m.  Media outlets are reminded not to publish images of this accused or name him after that time.
   
   
Theft/Mischief – Arrest: C17-149764
In mid-April, 2017, Winnipeg Police were altered to a number of incidents where newspaper vending boxes were being vandalized throughout the city. Between April and July twenty-five vending boxes were vandalized with total damage estimates exceeding $10,000.
   
On July 7, 2017, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a District 3 Street Supervisor unit observed a suspect in the area of Main Street and Matheson Avenue. A 27-year-old male was arrested.   
   
David Curtis FIDLER has been charged with:
 - Mischief Under $5,000 x 25
 - Theft Under $5,000
 - Possess Break & Enter Tools
 - Possess Property Obtained by Crime
 - Fail to Comply with Probation Order
   
The accused was detained in custody.
   
Stolen Vehicle – Arrest: C17-149769   
On July 7, 2017, at approximately 9:30 p.m. an East District general patrol unit attempted to pull over a Dodge truck that had previously been reported disobeying traffic control devices. A short pursuit was initiated but subsequently aborted when conditions became unsafe.
   
A spike belt device was deployed which slowed the suspect vehicle. During the incident the suspect vehicle collided with a private vehicle causing minimal damage and no injuries. It also collided with a marked Winnipeg Police unit causing minor damage. One officer received medical treatment.
   
The suspect vehicle became stuck in a field in the area of Lagimodiere Blvd. and Grassie Blvd.
   
Three adult suspects were taken into custody. One adult male, 26, will be charged with the following offences:
 - Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon x 2
 - Possess Property Obtained by Crime
 - Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
 - Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer
 - Possess Break In Instruments
 - Drive While Disqualified
 - Fail to Comply - Recognizance
