Strong Arm Robberies - Investigations
The Winnipeg Police Service received three reports of strong-arm robberies between August 8 and August 10, 2017. In all three incidents both the victims and the suspects were female. At this time investigators do not believe the incidents are related.
   
On August 8, at approximately 7:00 a.m., a female in her 50's was in walking in the 400 block of Edmonton Street when she was approached by two females who tried to steal her purse. A passerby scared off the suspects who fled on foot without managing to take the purse. The victim suffered minor injuries.
   
On August 10, at approximately 6:20 a.m., a female in her 40's was arriving at work in her vehicle in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue. Three female suspects approached her car and began banging on the windows. The victim exited the vehicle at which time she was assaulted by two of the suspects. The suspects fled on foot after stealing the victim's personal property.
   
The victim was treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim's vehicle was also damaged in the incident.
   
Also on August 10, at approximately 3:10 a.m., a female victim in her 40's was walking in the 1800 block of Pembina Highway when she was confronted by four female suspects who demanded her personal property. The victim was assaulted numerous times but suffered only minor injuries.
   
Suspect descriptions are not available at this time.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
