Tuesday, January 30, 2018   Carjacking – Arrest: C18-20662   On January 28, 2018, at approximately 9:20 p.m., a male suspect entered a convenience store located in the 900 block of Archibald Street. The suspect, who appeared disoriented, attended behind a counter and assaulted two employees.   He then attempted to pull an employee into a bathroom but was unsuccessful. The suspect then locked himself in the bathroom where he armed himself with a metal rod.   One employee suffered minor injuries and members of the Winnipeg Police Service were contacted.   The suspect exited the convenience store and attended to a nearby parking lot where he smashed a window of an unoccupied parked vehicle. He then attended Archibald Street near Elizabeth Avenue where he threw the metal rod at a passing vehicle.   As the suspect stood in the middle of the road, a southbound tow truck slowed down and attempted to pass him. The suspect jumped into the passenger side of the tow truck and uttered threats to shoot the driver, telling him to keep driving.   Officers located the tow truck travelling on Fermor Avenue near Archibald Street and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver slammed on the brakes and was able to flee while the vehicle was still moving. He suffered minor injuries and was later transported to hospital in stable condition.   The suspect got into the driver seat and began to drive erratically eastbound on Fermor Avenue. Officers were able to stop the vehicle on Highway 1 just east of Lagimodière Boulevard and the suspect was taken into custody.   Charles Raymond Holke, a 40-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:   - Assault - Robbery (x2) - Forcible Confinement - Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment - Possession of a Weapon - Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment (x2) - Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm - Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle - Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer - Driving While Ability Impaired - Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge   He was detained in custody. Monday, January 29, 2018    Break and Enter - Arrests: C18-20097 On January 28, 2018 at approximately 4:20 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a commercial alarm in the 1100 block of Taylor Avenue. General Patrol and two K9 Units in the area immediately responded. Upon their arrival they observed a vehicle in front of the business. The front window of the business was smashed out and several people were running from the parking lot.     Three males were apprehended in the area and placed under arrest.     A large quantity of glasses and sunglasses were stolen from the business.     The vehicle in front of the business was determined to have been stolen earlier in the evening from the 400 block of Edmonton Street. It was left unattended while running with the keys in it.     In addition, items stolen from a Break and Enter which occurred earlier in the morning in the first 100 block of Chaikoski Court were located inside the stolen vehicle.     Shaun William COOK, 18-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with: Break, Enter and Theft - Place Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 X3 Break, Enter and Theft - Dwelling Fail to Comply with Sentence X5   Rylie Johimal Keith WIGGINS, 20-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with: Break, Enter and Theft - Place Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 Break, Enter and Theft - Dwelling Fail to Comply with Sentence X2 John Henry SINCLAIR, 18-years-olf of Winnipeg has been charged with: Break, Enter and Theft - Place Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 Break, Enter and Theft - Dwelling Fail to Comply with Recognizance   All three males have been detained in custody.     Robbery - Arrest: C18-19199 On January 26, 2018 at approximately 10:35 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a male wanted on warrants at a residence in the 400 block of Keenleyside Street. Officers attended and located an adult male and placed him under arrest. The details of the offences are as follows:     On November 2, 2017 the suspect, wearing a disguise and armed with a hand gun, robbed two businesses; one in the 1400 block of Main Street and the other in the 1000 block of Main Street. An undisclosed amount of money was obtained. No one was injured during the attack.     On November 3, 2017 the suspect, wearing a disguise and armed with a large knife, robbed five business in the following areas: 100 block of Salter Street 1300 block of Main Street 700 block of Watt Street 1100 block of Munroe Avenue 500 block of Talbot Avenue Cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money was obtained. No one was injured during the attack.     On December 2, 2017 the suspect, wearing a disguise and stating that he was armed with a gun, robbed two businesses; one in the 700 block of Watt Street and the other in the 1400 block of Main Street. An undisclosed amount of money was obtained. No one was injured during the attack.     On December 9, 2017 the suspect, wearing a disguise and armed with a gun, robbed a business in the 1300 block of Molson Street. An undisclosed amount of money was obtained. Friday, January 26, 2018   Serious Motor Vehicle Collision – Investigation: C18-18366   On January 25, 2018, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Edmonton Street.    The pedestrian, a 55-year-old male, was transported to hospital in critical condition where he remains.   Preliminary investigation has determined the pedestrian had stepped into the road when he was struck by a westbound semi-trailer truck. No charges are expected against the driver of the truck at this time.   This investigation is continuing by members of the Traffic Division. Thursday, January 25, 2018   Robbery - Arrest: C18-16457/C18-17626 As previously released: On January 23, 2018 at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to an assault in the 300 block of Portage Avenue. Officers attended and located a 17-year-old victim with serious upper body injuries. The male was transported to hospital in stable condition. He was treated for multiple injuries and released.     Officers learned the victim was waiting in a bus shelter when he was approached by an unknown male, viciously attacked and robbed.     On January 24, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m., the same male suspect attended a parking lot in 2300 block of McPhillips Street where he damaged a window to one vehicle and then approached a vehicle being parked. He forced the 56-year-old male driver out of his vehicle and drove away with the vehicle.     This vehicle was subsequently located, abandoned in the area of Gimli, Manitoba. A pickup truck was stolen from this location.     At approximately 9:13 p.m., it was reported that the same truck stopped for fuel in the 5000 block of Portage Avenue and that the driver fled without paying.     At approximately 9:30 p.m., general patrol officers spotted the stolen vehicle travelling in the area of Portage Avenue and Maryland Street and began to follow the suspect vehicle. After a short distance the suspect vehicle increased speed and attempted to flee. Air1 arrived overhead and ground patrol officers disengaged. Air1 continued to follow and monitor the suspect's location while officers attempted to slow the vehicle using stop sticks. The driver continued his attempt at evading police, driving with damaged tires.     In the area of Portage Avenue and Broadway Street, the vehicle became stuck in traffic. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver turned the vehicle toward one of the approaching officers, causing the officer to jump out of harm's way.     At approximately 9:51 p.m., the truck was safely stopped in the 1900 block of Portage Avenue.     During the pursuit of this vehicle, the suspect vehicle was involved in three minor accidents; however, no injuries were reported.     Joshua Zachary SNAKESKIN, 26-years-old has been arrested and charged with: Assault Pease Officer with a Weapon Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Aggravated Assault Robbery Mischief Under $5000 Flight While Pursued by Peace Officer Theft of Motor Vehicle Theft Under $5000 He has been detained in custody.     Robbery - Arrests: C17-284998 On December 20, 2017 the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to a male robbed by several other people. Officers attended and met with the adult male victim who reported that on December 19, 2017 he made arrangements through an on-line dating site to meet a female at a residence in the 300 block of Maryland Street.     Shortly after midnight, the victim attended to the residence and was welcomed in by two females. Once in the house, the females demanded money from the victim which he disputed as he was under the impression that his was a consensual encounter.     Three males then emerged from within the residence and also demanded money. When the victim refused to pay, he was attacked. The victim smashed a window in an effort to escape the house, however the group continued to assault the victim during which time he was struck in the upper body several times with a metal object. The victim was then bound, forced into his vehicle and driven to his house from which the suspects entered and removed valuables.     The victim was driven to another location where the vehicle was abandoned with the victim inside. The victim was able to let himself out of the vehicle and get help.     Responding units located five suspects in the 300 block of Maryland Street. All were taken into custody are arrested.     On January 24, 2018, a sixth suspect, a 16-year-old female, turned herself in.     A 33-years-old female, 27-years-old male, 15-year-old and 17-year-old females, and a 16-year-old male were arrested and detained in custody. They have been charged with a number of offences, including Aggravated Assault, Forcible Confinement, Kidnapping, and Robbery.     In addition, 20-year-old male was arrested and released on a Promise to Appear.     Mischief - Arrests: C18-3407 Between January 12, 2018 and January 13, 2018 with Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to several incidents of graffiti in the area of Portage Avenue and Isbister Street.     Officers from the West District Station entered into an investigation. General Patrol officers attended and identified an adult female suffering from a stab wound to her lower body. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition. The victim in this incident has since succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as Angel BEAULIEU, 22. A suspect has now been identified. The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit is asking for the public's assistance in locating the following individual. Lanessa MOSKOTAYWENENE, (18) 1999-09-06 is the subject of arrest warrants for both Manslaughter and Aggravated Assault.       MOSKOTAYWENENE is not to be approached. Monday, January 22, 2018     Homicide – Investigation: C18-13242 The Winnipeg Police Service had previously information on a stabbing that had occurred on January, 18, 2018 in the 400 block of Furby St.     The victim in this incident has since succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as Angel BEAULIEU, 22.     As previously released: On January 18, 2018 at approximately 5:45 p.m., emergency services personnel responded to the report of an injured female in the 400 block of Furby Street.     General Patrol officers attended and identified an adult female suffering from a stab wound to her lower body. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition where she remains at this time.     A second victim, an adult female, was identified with stabbed wounds to her upper body. She was treated in hospital in later released.     This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Saturday, January 20, 2018 Please note a correction to the spelling of the victim's name.   Homicide – Update/Arrest: C17-180360   On January 16, 2018, the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit requested the public's assistance in locating the following male:     Matthew Marjanovic, a 29-year-old male of Winnipeg.   Marjanovic was wanted in connection to the August 13, 2017, death of Mustafa Peyawary and it was believed he could be in the Vancouver or Alberta (Edmonton or Calgary) area.   A Canada-wide arrest warrant for First Degree Murder was issued for Marjanovic, and on January 19, 2018, at approximately 7:20 p.m., he was arrested following a traffic stop on the St. Vital Bridge by members of the Tactical Support Team.   Marjanovic was turned over to members of the Homicide Unit and has been detained in custody.   The Winnipeg Police Service wishes to thank the public across Canada for their support in this matter.
